Presidential and parliamentary candidates crisscrossed different parts of the country on Thursday, June 27, the sixth day of the campaign season, as they continue to canvass support ahead of the July general elections.
Paul Kagame’s Campaign
After a one-day break on Wednesday, Paul Kagame, the presidential candidate of the RPF-Inkontanyi, resumed his campaign trail. He met with hundreds of thousands of residents in Huye and Nyamagabe Districts. Kagame’s rallies in these districts emphasized his commitment to continuing the economic development and stability that his party has promised to sustain.
Frank Habineza’s Campaign
Meanwhile, Frank Habineza, the presidential candidate and flag bearer for the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda, also headed to the Southern Province. His campaign included a stop in Nyanza District, where he addressed key issues such as environmental sustainability, healthcare, and education reforms. Habineza’s campaign is focused on offering a fresh alternative to the current administration’s policies.
Philippe Mpayimana’s Campaign
Philippe Mpayimana, the independent presidential candidate, visited Ngororero and Muhanga on Thursday. This followed his campaign efforts in Burera and Musanze on Wednesday. Mpayimana’s campaign has already covered significant ground, including Kirehe, Ngoma, Kayonza, Nyagatare, and Gatsibo districts. His platform advocates for greater political inclusivity and transparency, aiming to attract voters looking for change outside the established party lines.
Parliamentary Campaigns
In addition to the presidential candidates, independent parliamentary candidate Janvier Nsengiyumva continued his campaign trail in Nyabihu and Ngororero districts in the Western Province. Nsengiyumva’s campaign focuses on local development issues, aiming to bring more attention to the needs and concerns of these communities at the national level.
As the campaign season progresses, candidates from various political backgrounds are actively engaging with the electorate, presenting their visions for Rwanda’s future. The diversity of candidates and their platforms reflects the dynamic political landscape of the country as it heads towards the July general elections.
