H.E President Paul Kagame met with President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal on Thursday, June 20, in Paris, France. The meeting followed up on Kagame’s visit to Dakar last month and featured a cordial exchange between the two leaders.
Global Forum Attendance
H.E President Paul Kagame arrived in Paris to attend the Global Forum for Vaccine Sovereignty and Innovation. The event is co-hosted by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, in partnership with France and the African Union (AU).
Continued Collaboration
A post by the President’s Office on X noted, “They also exchanged on a visit of President Faye to Rwanda to continue sharing experiences in various fields including impactful and accountable public governance as well as intra-African collaboration.”
Previous Visit to Dakar
In May, H.E President Paul Kagame visited Dakar, Senegal, where he was received by President Faye and several cabinet members. During the visit, the Heads of State held a private meeting and attended a luncheon hosted by President Faye.
Basketball Africa League
H.E President Paul Kagame and Faye also attended the Basketball Africa League (BAL) game between Senegal’s AS Douanes and Rwanda’s APR.
Leadership and Elections
This was Kagame’s first visit to Senegal since Faye was elected as the country’s leader. Faye, 44, a senior official in the Pastef party, won the elections in March.
